[..YouTube..] You can try to compare it with the SE Satio or Samsung i8910 Omnia HD. Great comparison… I’ve owned many phones before but still have yet to own a HTC device. I’m not a big fan of windows mobile and I haven’t owned an android phone yet. HTC devices just don’t temp me enough to switch from Nokia.

[..YouTube..] Very good review and presentation. Seems terminals are still very popular in Europe. Nokia phones still look like text-based OS. Wake up Nokia. Powerful hardware, expensive phones does not mean higher sales. If windows mobile can kick N97 ass then G1, iPhone and Pre will just kill it.

[..YouTube..] N97 is in no way a High-End smartphone. It´s sluggish,minimal Hardware does not justify this. 434 Mhz,128 MB Ram is just a joke.
And Touch Pro2 still uses the old MSM720X Chipset, the same chipset in earlier devices like Touch HD, wich was laggy at Multimedia.
Both Devices do not convince me. Samsung Omnia 2 or Omnia Pro will rule Windows Mobile devices with ARM11 Cores

[..YouTube..] I actually own the TP2 and looked at the N97. I came to the conclusion that after owning Nokias and the HTC Touch Pro that the UI on the TP2 was far more customisable (which you arent forced to use Touch-Flo) than the N97 and theres where it sold me. Plus the screen is beautiful and keyboard unparalleled.

I just hope they sort out the s60 bugs with firmware like they did the N95. If they do, then I’m in for a treat.

[..YouTube..] Good point that data connection speed is important but 1) he is in Europe not here in the US, 2) he is testing the unlocked versions of each largely on form factor and software, and 3) the unlocked TP2 doesn’t support 3G in the US but several carrier branded versions will, and those will be out as early as Aug 12th (TMobile)

Phones are not able to make anything close to good shot (yet) so i keep my small pentax for high quality snapshots and for serious shooting D50.
Al cams on phones have the laggy response and noisy pictures which are fine for playing around but for the moment I don’t have any expectation from camera’s on smartphones.

[..YouTube..] Doh! The N97 is Nokia’s third touchscreen phone, not the second. Okay, they weren’t popular, but there was the 7710 (and its proto brother, the 7700).
If you’re looking for a good camera in a phone, check out Samsung’s offerings, like the i8910 HD or even better in this regard, the INNOV8.

It also has a lower res screen, same as the iPhone. It just might clench it based on your fighting style

It was unstable and had a design like no other (you can see that with the help of Google), I couldn’t figure out how to hold it right while talking, but it sure was a fun experience.

[..YouTube..] I love it, it’s pretty much the best smartphone I’ve ever had, if it wasn’t for the weak battery. I have to add, that rooting and enabling the paid market really helps a lot (only the free market is available in Hungary…). The UI sure beats S60 all around, I’d say it’s almost on par with the iPhone OS.
I don’t watch videos on the phone, but I hope someone will port FFMPEG over with the new NDK, so we’ll have a nice and fast and compatible video player too, that’s missing ATM too.

[..YouTube..] You can change the UI in Nokia’s to look like anything you want (see M1 app or MyPhone for example). What can you do to iPhone’s fugly software? The only thing that’s pretty is the main screen. iPhone’s in general are just too restricting for my taste. I’ve had an iTouch for about a year and wanna throw it to a wall every time i use it. Now that i have the Nokia 5800xm, the iTouch is obsolete.

[..YouTube..] Just to update, i ended up no being able to decided between theses two phones, HTC won but ive had nokia for many years. So ive ended up buying a toshiba TG01. The ui was changed after about 5 mins to SPB as the original UI is useless. For my purposes i think i made the right choice. With the new user interface this is a demon phone but in need of a good review!!!! HINT HINT

[..YouTube..] TP2’s keyboard, movie playback, better user interface, TF3D2, push internet’s ‘alarm’ function for preloading sites, supporting more video formats, a better speaker, and overall ease of use makes it – for me – worth having a lesser camera without flash, no headphone jack, and a bit less memory. The few victories the Nokia N97 has over the TP2 weren’t enough to give it a better overall rating. This was a very good, neutral comparison! KUDOS!

(I found that it does make a HUGE difference)… Also you might want to disable the theme effects (that you had them on) because that also makes it look a bit slower and sluggish.. It reacts ALOT faster with the theme effects are off.. Also, you can install Core player on the N97.. but you will have to use the S60V3 edition (which can run on the N97… Also the Ovi store doesn’t have much apps yet.. but there are lots of

[..YouTube..] If you would like to see the differences between a 65K and a 16m colors screen (Symbian devices and iPhones) Go to any graphics program on your computer that has a “color picker” option (located in color palette menus) eg. Fireworks, Photoshop. Print screen the picture of the color picker menu and crop it to include only the picture of color shades area. Upload it to your devices. The 65K screen will display a horrible “color banding” while the 16m screen will display like your computer screen.

[..YouTube..] the TG01 has many drawbacks (the UI that comes with the phone is poo, the sound coming out the speakers is poo, and the battery life is poo,) but the hardware is the best with 1ghz processor, 4.1 inch touch screen that works great and its thinner than an i phone. To get around the problems of the phone ive run SPB User Interface and also KINOMA UI sofware through it (havent decided yet, which one i prefer as they are both excellent)…..

Please NewDawnOY, get a review done on this phone as it doesnt get anywhere like the amount of credit that it deserves. But to bring out the best on this phone you need the software which is easily downloadable. (and not mind charging the phone every day or wearing headphones!!)

You don’t have to convert movies to the crappy 3GP format. My MP4 movies look great on my 5800, and sure the N97 also supports the MP4 format.
It’s true this won’t solve the compatibility issue that the N97 has, but at least it’s a much better alternative.

[..YouTube..] I think you should have pointed out that the N97 has 32GB on board, expandable to 48GB,whilst the HTC pro has only 512MB – a 16GB (biggest available) micro sd will set you back another $40. Other things not covered are the software (N97 has a handy FM sender) and GPS.

[..YouTube..] He mentions that the screen on the N97 has more colours but he couldn’t tell when comparing in a real life situation and that he found the higher resolution on the TP2 to be better. I think both phones come down to preference. If you want a high res screen, great keyboard, more power and the ability to tweak your phone to what you want you go with the TP2. If you want great amounts of storage, one of the best mobile cameras around and you’re a fan of widgets you go with the N97.

I noticed that in some shop where everybody have open both many times and n97 felt much stronger but htc is little heavier. btw n97 isn’t second touchscreen device from nokia. i guess they have at least 5 mini computers what looks like n97 or something

[..YouTube..] nokia… ehhh while it might be better then 85 percent of other phones. its not in the same class range of the touch pro 2, iphone , and you forgot the htc hero. with its new sense UI interface. in a couple of months the htc hero and touch pro 2 will be sporting full adobe flash! which means you’ll be browsing the web exactly the same as you do on a computer. iphone will not be getting flash. as for now touch pro 2 gets the node because of that beautiful 3.6 inch screen and spacious keyboard

[..YouTube..] if you take a close look at the video reviews its easy to see that hero is the way to go. android by far is the best operating system created so far. google has done more with android in one year then microsoft is done since it first released windows mobile many years ago. the iphone’s os is also great. but its locked up which will not allow for much innovation. and I’ve heard from a lot of places that symbian os is getting old and stale. the next update of android will see flash and multi touch

But I prefer the Nokia N97. It has a 32G intern memory (htc touch pro 2 only 512MB), 5mp camera, you can use earphones for music, and it doesn’t has a size of a fridge like htc touch pro 2 does !

[..YouTube..] One thing for the HTC TP2, the tilt screen ACTUALLY TILTS AT DIFFERENT ANGLES.
The Nokia N97 only tilts out, at one stuck angle.
As well, for me with the audio, sound quality is more important than the 3.5mm jack, because I’m always listening to my devices with bluetooth.

The length is the same as the TP2, and it looks like it’s a bit thicker, the way it’s designed, although it looks a bit thinner.
That, in my eyes, is a bad thing, because I don’t want to deal with a narrow screen.

The amount of difference between the two depends on what features you value the most, but still..if you draw or lose in almost every round…you still lose!
The n900 is coming close and it’s newer (i believe..) than the Touch Pro (so not totally fair)
I dont have a Touch Pro and I dont like all HTC’s phones,but just like the my HTC Magic is better than Xpress Music, n97 loses from the Pro2

I wanted however, to know one more thing, is the TP2 able to run video filmes with H264 (avc) codec at native resolution or will its processor makes it stutters? (doesnt matter wich coitanners it uses, mp4 or mkv). Since tp2 has a tv-out fuction wich is excellent (and shoud have been mentioned) i really am having a hard time to find this particular info out.

Was gonna get the HTC PRO 2 about the same price with a contract.
I have a N95 2 years old so looking to get something new.
The N97 has pretty much the same features as the N95.
Make a review about the Samsung Omnia I8910.
Can’t wait till my Omnia arrives its unlocked 2 like my N95 but my N95 is broken lol.
If I don’t like the Omnia I will just buy a HTC Pro2 hope I can find one unlocked.

[..YouTube..] One Suggestion…why didn’t u regard the FM Transmitter on thee N97…or the 32GB + memory that’s built in and allows u to expand it even more by adding 16G of flash… I’m looking at the spec’s of the HTC Touch Pro 2 and it’s score doesn’t look the same to me. Don’t say that I am a Nokia fan, ‘cuz my N97 is driving me nuts from time to time, but I am trying to be a realist! Let’s face it…everyone has been driven mad by his phone at some point

[..YouTube..] this is Very good analytical review but i gotta say, n97 is still better any day. the HTC is too bigg and ugly (carrying it around wud be akward) and the memory is too low (for this century) plus the camera is nt that good. .. . .the tilting mechanisim jus makes it easier to break!!! while the n97 is a better allrounder any day, which is comfortable, durable, easy to use, stylish, efficient, and very compatible phone.
i give n97: 9.2/10 and the htc: 8/10
